Earth Week : DOVU announces a strategic partnership with Ocean Protocol

The collaboration will allow farmers on DOVU Carbon Marketplace to publish and monetize their carbon datapools on Ocean Market, whilst enabling Ocean Protocol and its community to leverage DOVU to reduce their carbon footprint.

DOVU is proud to be working with Ocean Protocol to offer our farmers new revenue streams from their farming data.

DOVU enables farmers to join its DOVU Carbon Marketplace, where they can upload their carbon data to have the amount of carbon stored in their soil verified by DOVU. Once this is complete, the carbon is published for sale to carbon buyers, thus generating income for the farmers.

Through this partnership with Ocean Protocol, farmers will also be able to publish their carbon data for sale on Ocean Market. Carbon Datapools can thus become an additional source of income for farmers working with DOVU, on top of their carbon sales, and provide valuable insight to researchers or the industry into carbon farming practices.

For Ocean Protocol, a data exchange protocol for the Web3 Data Economy, the collaboration expands the list of potential data sources on Ocean Market, an open-source community marketplace for data. Ocean Protocol will also be leveraging the DOVU Carbon Offset Platform to help manage its own carbon footprint and demonstrate leadership on this important issue.

Here is what Irfon Watkins, Founder of DOVU, said about the partnership:

As DOVU sources its own Carbon supply the collection of data from our Carbon suppliers is essential. This Partnership will be welcomed by our Farmers as a new source of revenue as well as our carbon buyers as it provides more visibility and therefore increases trust in the process. We also look forward to integrating the DOVU Carbon Offset solution within Ocean Protocol offering all participants an opportunity to reduce their environmental impact.

Commenting on the partnership, Sheridan Johns, Head of Ecosystem at Ocean Protocol said:

We’re pleased to welcome this new stream of data to Ocean Market. By integrating data from farmers on the DOVU Carbon Marketplace onto Ocean Market, Ocean Protocol continues to work towards fulfilling its mission of bringing data sovereignty to the world – in this case, to the world of agriculture. DOVU data has utility for both research and industry to gain insights into agricultural practices and its impact on the environment and Ocean Protocol will allow for AI models to train on the data in a privacy-preserving manner. Last but not least, the DOVU Carbon Offset Platform will give the Ocean community insights as to how they can reduce their carbon footprint.

About Ocean Protocol

Ocean Protocol’s mission is to kickstart a Web3 Data Economy that reaches the world, giving power back to data owners and enabling people to capture value from data to better our world.

Data is a new asset class; Ocean Protocol unlocks its value. Data owners and consumers use the Ocean Market app to publish, discover, and consume data assets in a secure, privacy-preserving fashion.

Ocean datatokens turn data into data assets. This enables data wallets, data exchanges, and data co-ops by leveraging crypto wallets, exchanges, and other DeFi tools. Projects use Ocean libraries and OCEAN in their own apps to help drive the Web3 Data Economy.

The Ocean token is used to stake on data, to govern Ocean Protocol’s community funding, and to buy & sell data. Its supply is disbursed over time to drive near-term growth and long-term sustainability. OCEAN is designed to increase with a rise in usage volume.
